Late night sorta snack run

I turned on my side to touch Jackson but found the bed empty. I lifted my head, glancing around and finding the room dark. "Jackson?" I asked, pushing myself up to sit, rubbing at my stomach slightly. "Don't worry I bet he only went to get some water... or went potty." I waited a good minute or so before shoving the covers back and walking to the bedroom door. I opened it a crack, finding the bathroom door open and no Jackson in site.

"Still, not worried..." I mumbled, rubbing the side of my stomach where our daughter was kicking. I knew I didn't know for a fact yet if she was a boy or girl but in my heart she was a girl so that's just how I thought of her. I'd apologize later if she did in fact come out as a boy.. I came out in the hall, being quiet not to wake anyone. However when I got to the living room and didn't find Jackson I decided to take a detour to the kitchen for a snack. And that's exactly what I did. I'm sure he was fine... and if he wasn't he could wait till I ate...

The bed felt empty next to me and I lifted my head off the pillow, looking beside me. Abigail wasn't there. I pushed myself out of the bed, looking around the house briefly, then looking over at the open door. I walked over to the slightly damp curtains, parting them only to see Jackson wrapping his arms around Abigail from behind. I sighed, shaking my head and letting the curtain fall back into place.

Turning back, I headed toward the kitchen to get a drink. I hadn't had a beer in quite a long time. Since Abigail got pregnant, I hadn't had one drop of alcohol. I wanted to be fair to her. I stopped when I saw the light on in the kitchen. Slowly, I headed in there, and found Carly in the kitchen, looking for something to eat. "Would you like me to make you a snack? Hungry?"

I nearly jumped out of my skin, already on edge because of the storm. "Jesus! You scared me!" I said laughing as I grabbed my chest. "And no how about I make you a snack? You know I'm not bad at making a sandwich." I cracked a smile. "Want one?"

I sat down at the island in the middle of the kitchen, nodding my head and rubbing my face. "That would be nice, thank you."

I pulled out all the stuff to make a sandwich and glanced back at Jeff. "You okay?"

I didn't need to hurt her. Not with what I'd seen. "I am glad this is all over with. We can finally get back home and things can go back to the way they should be." I looked up at her. "Well, maybe not that. Who knows the way things should be. We have all seemed to make a mess of everything... Are you happy?"

I lowered my eyes to the food on the counter, sighing. "I guess. Not as much as I want to be.. but I guess." I glanced over at him. "Are you.. happy? Despite things being a mess? I saw Abby's ring... pretty.."

I shook my head. "I don't want to talk about them. Let us have a conversation that does not revolve around them or the choices any of us have made. Let us just enjoy our time together."

"Fine." I nodded lightly, and went back to making our sandwiches. I got both finished and sat down on the stool next to him. "Thank you.. for being here.. for my sister. And saving Dante." I smiled at him before taking a bite.

"You are all my family, Carly. No matter what has ever happened to us. We will always be family." I picked up the sandwich, looking over at her. "Grazie, Dulce."

"You're welcome." I raised my eyebrow when I felt the house shake under us. "Have I mentioned how much I hate storms?" I rubbed my side and thanked God that at least the lights were still on..

I reached over, wrapping my arm around her, giving her a soft hug. "I remember," I said, leaning over and kissing her shoulder softly.

I turned my eyes to him, a small smile curving on my lips. "Of course you remember. You know me pretty well." I smiled, rubbing his knee.

The lights started to flicker and I hoped that they would stay on. I knew how much Carly didn't like power outages, especially when it came with storms. "I do, and I am glad I do. But this storm cannot get too bad, can it?"

"Right..." I mumbled, barely hearing him, more so listening to the storm outside. The lights flickered before finally flipping off. "Oh, boy.." I mumbled, gripping my fingers slightly in his knee. "Not a fan of the dark..."

I pulled her closer to me, wrapping my arms around her. I had been wrong. Maybe this storm was going to be quite bad. I kissed the top of her head, holding her closer still. "Do not worry, Dulce. You are safe."

I closed my eyes smiling slightly. "I'm not worried with you." The house shook again nearly sending Jeff and I to the floor. "Oh... God. This feels like more than just a storm."

I held onto her. Standing and doing my best to keep Carly from falling and hurting herself. "It might be a hurricane, Dulce. But do not worry. We have shelter. We will be alright." I needed to calm her. I didn't know how bad things were going to get, but I had to try to ease her worry as much as possible.

"Yeah.." I said softly. I wanted to believe him but we were RIGHT by the water. We were so close I could hear the water going insane outside. "Remind me never to come to Hawaii again..." I let out a scream when the chair next to us fell. "Ok, officially scared!"

I pulled her closer to me. "I would suggest that we go find a more secure shelter, but this is as safe as we can get for right now." I really didn't know how safe we were.

I buried my face in his chest, hugging him to me best I could. "I know." I whispered, shaking as much as the house was. i heard a terrible ripping sound and glanced up, the roof was gone. Literally. My heart stopped and I felt sick to my stomach. "Oh, God.." All I wanted was to wrap my arms around every single person in this hut and make sure they were all okay.

My arm was still wrapped around Carly, but I didn't have a moment to think before water from out of nowhere, more than just the rain, came crashing down on us. Carly was out of my grasp before I even got a moment to think. I was pushed so violently away from her, and I was so incredibly disoriented, I didn't know what to do.

I tried to keep my hand in Jeff's but the water surrounding around us ripped me back away from him and I tried to fight to get to the surface for air. All I wanted was to take a huge gulp of air. But I couldn't. My fight wouldn't let me get to the top and fight the current. It was stronger.
