| I had left the baby with Chelle and had went for a walk down by the water on the piers to see if I could find Jackie. I knew if he wasn't with Tony himself he was here looking for the girls. I couldn't find Dante, I tried calling him, but there wasn't an answer and Jackie didn't have a cellphone so I was constantly worrying about him and had learned his routine places to go so I headed here. However when I got there and saw Jackie's lifeless body on the docks and a man tying something to his foot to anchor him down I ran down the steps and shoved the man hard, catching him off guard as he sat on his knees and he stumbled and went right in the water. He shouted at me but was already falling. I turned to Jackie. "Oh, Jackie!" I cried, tears flowing quickly. I grabbed his face. "Jackie we need to get up. Please that man is going to come back! Jackie!" I cried, untying his foot quickly. "Please, handsome." I whispered, grabbing his face. "Open your eyes for me." |

| I looked up, expecting to see St. Peter or an angel, something heavenly-- why I expected to go to heaven, I didn't know, but that's what I expected-- and I did. Tammy, my own personal angel. Which meant that I wasn't dead. She was pleading with me... pleading with me to get up. The pain was to the point of numbing, so I could barely feel it, but I knew it was still there. The urgency in her voice and sadness gave me all the strength I needed, even if I hadn't had any moments before. Lifting my hand, I softly caressed her face, nodding my head. "I..." coughing, "Can you help?" I hadn't needed to ask. For one so small, my Tammy was strong. Helping me to my feet, she wrapped her arm around my waist and my arm around her shoulders. I was so lightheaded and I kept coming in and out of consciousness, but I did my best to hold onto her, both physically and mentally. She was my rock, my life. I had to stay connected to her, or she'd lose me. "Home, baby." I know she'd want me to go to the hsopital, but right now, home was the best place. "Call Thomas." Thomas was my right hand man, the man who I trusted to clean things up for me. He's also the one all my men went to when they couldn't go to the hospital. He was a trained physician, after all, and he had his connections to get any medical supplies that were neeed. Tammy would understand, and I hoped she would do it, even if she would prefer I go to the hospital. |

| I heard what he said but it didn't click the way I wanted. Did he just say home when he could barely keep his head up? Was he seriously asking me NOT to take him to the hospital when he was dying? "Jackie, I.." Then he added on to call Thomas and I felt my throat clench and my heart beat faster. He was serious! I held him up more and walked down the alleyway toward my car. "I can call him." I said, opening my car door and helping him inside. Seriously wanting to cry because I was sure he was going home to die! I heard a noise and turned, letting out a scream as I saw a man raise his gun. I got Jackie in the car quickly, shut the door and bent down, running to the driver's side as shots rang out, hitting the back window glass and shattering it. "Jackie!" I screamed, getting in the front seat and starting up the car. |

| Taking every ounce of energy I had, I reached under the seat, grabbing the lock box out an keying in the code between blurry eyes, unlocked the box and rolled down the window, taking the gun out. I aimed as best as I could, shooting at the man shooting at us. I felt a gun wiz right past my hand but continued shooting. Sooner or later, the shooting ceased, I didn't know if it was because I had gotten him or if Tammy had driven away. I let my hand drop down to my lap on top of the lock box, letting my head hit the back of the seat. It rolled over, and I looked at my wife through my blurred vision. She was every bit my angel. "L... love y...you, bab--baby." My eyes started to close, unable to keep them open any longer. |

| "I love you! Keep your eyes damn it!" I cried, driving away like my life depended on it as I dialed for Thomas and sped away in a hurry to head home. |
