Phone Call: B 2 A

We were just finishing up our meal and Dante had asked for the check, so I thought I'd call A and make sure she was home at Jeff's. I pulled my phone out of my purse and held down her preset number, pulling the phone to my ear, listening to the ringback tone, waiting for her to answer.

I rolled over, groaning slightly at the pain in my head as I reached for my annoying phone. I clicked it on with my good hand and answered. "Hello?" I asked, my voice groggy with sleep.

"Oh, A," I frowned slightly. "I'm sorry I woke you. It's nearly one thirty. I thought you'd be awake." I turned my head down so I wasn't facing Dante and Tammy. "I guess I forgot what it's like to be pregnant." I swallowed, taking a short breath. "Are you up to meeting Tammy?"

I was about to snap that it didn't matter what time it was I could sleep all day if I wanted too and I wasn't feeling good on top of it but refrained since she didn't know I took a tumble down the steps. "Sure, I'd love too.." I said, burying my face slightly in the pillow.

She sounded frustrated, and I didn't know why. "You're still at Freddie's, right? Things are changing so much around here."

"No, I'm not. I'm at Jackson's. For now anyways. I got hurt yesterday and came back here so me and the twins could rest." I just realized she hadn't even know they were twins.. I felt bad dropping it like that but it was out and there was nothing I could do. "Meet me here in about a half hour.."

I blinked, shaking my head and looking over at Dante. "Twins? How did you get hurt?" Taking a deep breath, I nodded my head. "We'll be over in a half hour. Don't get hurt again, hon."

"I fell. No biggie. And yes twins.. I didn't mean for it to slip out like that." I shook my head in the pillow. "See you soon."

"We'll be there soon, A," I told her. "Love you." I hung up the phone and slid it back in my purse.

"Love you too. Bye." I hung up, putting the phone on the nightstand.
